No Trombones' second single is a Southern Soul / Americana style song featuring the powerful vocals of LiL

MONTREAL, August 12th, 2018 – “My Prison”, the second single from No Trombones, the soulful collaboration between songwriter and producer Rick Vincent and American Idol Top Ten finalist LiL, to be released on August 26th, 2018. 

“My Prison” is about something we are all instinctively aware of but sometimes need to be reminded that we should be correcting our personal trajectory. We all know that no one should be an island, but somehow we often manage to even isolate ourselves in a room full of people and, from time to time, we need someone to pull us back into the social world and help us to escape these self-made prisons.

“Having the opportunity to work with such a wonderful vocalist was inspiring. We were able to come together even over a great distance to do something beautiful, to make something special. An amazing experience that we can now share through this release”, says Rick.

“My Prison” was recorded using real instrumentation. The song sits on top of some of Rick’s acoustic guitar picking, bass provided by Mark Corradetti’s sweet sounding Hofner bass, the drum track by Jason Meekins and the core soul of the song coming from LiL’s warm voice.

LiL is an incredibly gifted singer from Memphis. She has been singing since she was 3 and when she was an American Idol top ten finalist, the judges described her voice as a “soulful breath of fresh air”. We couldn’t agree more!

“My Prison” was mixed and mastered by Grammy Award winning Gerard Hairston who is known for his work with Destiny's Child, Erykah Badu, LLCool J, Kirk Franklin, amongst others.
